Welcome to the Chambers Management September 2008 Talent Update In this email:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Edinburgh Fringe 2008 round up This year's Fringe was an incredible success with all acts playing to sell-out audiences and receiving rave reviews across the board. History was made as two Chambers acts won both If. Comedy awards. Congratulations to David O' Doherty for winning the Main Award for his show Let's Comedy and to Sarah Millican who secured the Best Newcomer Award for her debut solo show, Sarah Millican's Not Nice. David's award topped off a busy festival as he performed in three different shows every day of the month. Described as "a scintillating comic force" by The Scotsman, his winning show, Let's Comedy was critically acclaimed: "truly hilarious" from The List and "comedy magic" from The Telegraph with The Guardian Online suggesting, "when a stand up gig goes this well, you do get a sense of how religions are started." Both David and Sarah will be performing in the If. Comedy showcase in London, details of which will be announced soon. David will then be embarking on a national tour - details here http://www.myspace.com/phlaimeaux with more dates due to be added! Sarah's show was described by the Telegraph as "a perfectly formed hour - touching, witty and wonderfully ribald", with Veronica Lee declaring Sarah to be "one of the most talented newcomers I have seen in many years", Sarah enjoyed a complete sellout with Chortle concluding that hers was "an impressive, and consistently funny, festival debut whilst Stephen Armstrong for the Sunday Times predicted "a great future." Nica Burns, Director of the If.Comedy Awards stated that Sarah was "an outstanding young female stand up" and she described David as "utterly delightful." Double If.Comedy Award-nominated Andrew Lawrence
enjoyed another fantastic sell-out Fringe with The Scotsman declaring "
Josh Howie's debut Fringe
was also a big success with The Observer praising his "diamond-sharp
wit" and both The Scotsman and The Times pinpointing Josh as "a name
