One of the most original and distinctive stars on television, radio and the stage, Jimmy has enjoyed several hugely successful years; this year being no exception.

Jimmy’s first six live DVDs (Live, Stand Up, Comedian, In Concert, Telling Jokes and Making People Laugh) have now sold over 1.2 million copies in total to date. His new stand-up DVD, Being Funny, was released in November 2011.

In August 2010 Jimmy’s all-new solo show Laughter Therapy debuted at the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh. Starting just a few days after the close of the marathon Rapier Wit tour, during which Jimmy played to over 300,000 people. By the time it finished in November 2011 with three huge arena shows in South Africa, the Laughter Therapy tour, had been seen by even more people. Often referred to as ‘the hardest working man in comedy’, Jimmy has so far performed his stand-up tour shows to well over 1.2 million people in the UK. His new tour, Gagging Order, begins in April and will run throughout 2012 and 2013.

Jimmy recently finished filming the twelfth series of 8 Out of 10 Cats, the comedy panel show based on polls, surveys and statistics for Channel 4. In January 2011 Jimmy joined forces with David Mitchell, Charlie Brooker and Lauren Laverne to host 10 O’Clock Live, a brand new weekly series taking a fresh and funny look at the news and current events and the show returns for its second series in early 2012. Jimmy’s other recent television appearances include The Graham Norton Show, Have I Got News for You, Would I Lie to You? and QI.

A household name in the UK, Jimmy is also a rising star in the US, where his profile continues to grow. Jimmy recently performed a second Comedy Central Special and also appeared on NBC’s Late Night with Conan O’Brien – his fifth appearance to date. Jimmy’s game show Distraction aired on Comedy Central and was subsequently repeated. He has also appeared four times on NBC’s flagship programme The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. In July 2011, Jimmy performed at the Montreal Just for Laughs Comedy Festival for the seventh time.

With conventional media conquered, Jimmy is also a pioneer of digital comedy, topping the album charts on iTunes and with a Twitter following of over 1.5 million. He was the first major comedian to perform within the online world of Second Life, and the results can be seen as an extra on the Comedian DVD. In 2009, Jimmy recorded a series of podcasts, entitled The Writers’ Room, in which he and his favourite writer friends chat about the latest news and events, exchanging anecdotes and quips, offering an insight into how comedy material can develop within a writing environment. The podcast proved a smash hit, shooting straight to the top of the iTunes download chart. In November 2011 Jimmy and fellow comedian Frankie Boyle were recorded in conversation at the flagship Apple Store on Regent Street, with the discussion being released as a podcast via iTunes.

A comedy hero for our times
Guardian

King of the comedy fringe
Telegraph

Fabulous: Carr is No1 on the Comedy Offenders List
The Times
A wonder to behold…he plays with your boundaries, but you love it. If Jimmy Carr can do to a body what he does to a mind, then his girlfriend must be the happiest woman on the planet
Scotsman

The brightest British comic hope for a long, long while…the most deliciously transgressive comic…he is not so much pushing the boundaries as sailing in uncharted waters…Superb
Irish Times

A masterclass in comedy…devastating, tasteless two-liners that are bliss to listen to…Carr’s persona is irresistible and his wisecracks have you quivering with satisfaction
Guardian

Edinburgh punters and critics disparage comedy acts with the phrase, ‘It’s not quite Jimmy Carr, is it?’ His exquisitely economical and perfectly-timed one-liners have set the new standard
Daily Telegraph

As sick as he is slick…and he’s very sick indeed
Independent on Sunday

Jimmy Carr is a world-class comedian…I envy his brilliance with words; if I could be any comedian in Edinburgh, I’d want to be Jimmy Carr…Bloody funny…a comic on top form…this show is unlikely to be improved upon at this year’s festival
Independent

Carr has blossomed into one of the most polished performers in the business
